Subject tutoring, supplemental instruction, and facilitated study group sessions— early and often.
The Center for Academic Achievement provides Explorers with many content tutoring options. Individual, one-on-one tutoring is available for more than 50 courses at the University. The Center also provides group tutoring through Supplemental Instruction (SI) for key courses frequently taken during freshman and sophomore year. No matter which service you utilize, tutors seek to help you learn the material in ways that individually benefit you, and also help you develop learning strategies that can lead to long-term success at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ.
Writing tutoring— it’s not just for English courses.
Friendly and formally trained tutors provide information about the writing process and documentation styles, as well as assistance with idea development, organization, tone, and voice. Writing tutoring appointments are structured to help students improve and develop writing skills regardless of ability. Students may schedule an online appointment with peer and professional writing tutors through Starfish in the mylasalle portal.

We provide group tutoring through Supplemental Instruction (SI) for key courses frequently taken during freshman and sophomore year. Like Subject Tutors, Supplemental Instruction Leaders seek to help you learn the material in a way that supports you now with courses and also supports you in developing learning strategies that can lead to long-term success at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ.
Meet with a professional or peer academic coach to develop effective learning strategies in time management, organization, reading, note-taking, studying, and test-taking.
First year students are assigned a first-year adviser to help with course selection and provide support for the transition from high school to college. In addition, advisers help you clarify your goals, confirm your major, explore career options, access campus resources, and plan for your future.
All incoming first year students are assigned a Student Success Coach who supports you throughout your first-year journey. Success Coaches help students develop plans to move through challenges by understanding core motivations and utilizing resources available. As a result of the meaningful partnerships developed with coaches, students are empowered to explore their potential and share experiences without fear of judgement.
Student Success Coaches help students with the following challenges in the transition to college:
• Lack of motivation and focus
• Balancing commitments
• Transition to life as a college student
• Connecting to campus
• Time management
• Resetting expectations for the rigor of college learning
• Demystifying the need to ask for help
Housed in the TruMark Financial Center, The Academic Support Center for Student Athletes supports athletes with academic issues, questions, and concerns as they balance their time and energy with the demands of being on Division I athletic teams.
